We’ve made a small but important update to the workflow for the Bugcount Solids kit to improve consistency and ease of use.
What changed
Background measurement sequence
In Bugcount Solids, the Background measurement is taken earlier in the method than was previously done with the DSA workflow — immediately after rehydrating Luminase® and before calibration.
This is a sequencing update only; the background measurement itself, calculation, and interpretation are unchanged.
What hasn’t changed
There are no changes to the kit components, reagents, or required materials.
All chemistry, consumables, and expected results remain exactly the same. This update only affects the order in which steps are performed.
Why this change was made
Reordering the Background step helps to:
- Streamline the workflow by grouping setup steps together
- Improve overall efficiency, especially when running multiple samples
What this means for you
If you’ve used the Solids kit before, you’ll follow the same steps as usual, just in a slightly different order:
- Rehydrate Luminase®, then complete the Background measurement before performing Calibration
- Background and Calibration readings can be applied across multiple tests when running samples in a batch. Follow the test kit instruction guidance for batch testing.
- Proceed with sample preparation and measurement as normal
Results generated using this updated workflow are directly comparable to those obtained using the previous method.
No retraining or new materials are required—just follow the updated sequence in the test kit instructions, available here: https://docs.luminultra.com/atp/solids/
