Short Answer
The Bugcount® One ATP Analyzer can run Luminultra ATP test kits directly from the instrument interface. The Bugcount analyzer guides you through a step by step workflow including calibration, sample inputs, and assay measurement.
Pair your Bugcount analyzer with Relay™
The Bugcount analyzer can be used as a standalone device, but for the best experience—including enhanced data logging, result interpretation, integrated support, and team collaboration — we recommend pairing it with the Relay™ software. Access to Relay™ is included with your purchase.

Running an ATP Test Kit with Relay™
When would you use this?
Sometimes you simply want a quick ATP reading without running a full test workflow. This is useful for:
- Verifying instrument response
- Checking sample signal strength
- Performing quick screening measurements
- Running custom or research protocols
The Read mode measures light output from the tube and reports the result as a Relative Light Unit (RLU)
Step by Step
Power on the Bugcount analyzer.
From the main menu, select Run Test.
If prompted, you may see a message suggesting connecting to Relay™.
Select Continue on Device to proceed.
Next, select your test kit from the provided list. Once the test kit is selected, the Bugcount analyzer guides you through four sequential steps.
Note: The Bugcount analyzer manages the measurement workflow, however, sample preparation, reagent addition, and incubation steps must follow the official ATP test kit instructions.
ATP Test Kit Instructions
Detailed test kit protocols are available at:
https://docs.luminultra.com/atp/
STEP 1 - Calibration
The Bugcount analyzer first measures the Calibration RLU
Prepare the calibration tube according to your ATP test kit instructions.
Insert the tube into the chamber.
Close the chamber door.
Press READ.
The device measures the ATP1 RLU value.
Confirm the result and press PROCEED.
STEP 2 - Volume
Next, the Bugcount analyzer asks for the sample volume used in the test.
Use the arrow buttons to adjust the volume.
Enter the correct sample volume in mL according to your ATP test kit instructions.
Press PROCEED.
STEP 3 - Background
The Bugcount analyzer then measures background RLU.
Prepare the background tube if required by your ATP test kit instructions.
Insert the tube into the chamber.
Press READ.
The device measures the bRLU value.
If the selected test kit does not require a background reading, select SKIP.
After the measurement completes, press PROCEED.
STEP 4 - Assay
Finally, the Bugcount analyzer performs the assay RLU.
Prepare the assay tube according to the ATP test kit instructions.
Insert the prepared tube into the device chamber.
Close the chamber door.
Press READ.
The device measures the cATP RLU signal.
Once the reading is complete, select: PROCEED TO RESULTS. The final test result will be stored on the Bugcount analyzer.
Viewing previous results
To view stored readings:
Navigate to Results from the main menu
Use the down arrow to scroll through stored measurements
Select a result to view its timestamp and details
The Bugcount analyzer can store up to 10,000 results internally
Tips for accurate measurements
- Always follow the instructions for your specific ATP test kit
- Place the analyzer on a stable, level surface
- Avoid moving the device during measurement
- Keep tubes free of condensation or fingertips
- Handle tubes with clean hands to prevent ATP contamination
